Last month, we advised our blog followers that the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office would be conducting a DUI wolf pack operation, in conjunction with other local law enforcement agencies. The operation took place throughout St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and surrounding areas from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5th until 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 6th, 2015. These wolf pack operations occur throughout the year, and particularly on holiday weekends, to reduce injuries, deaths, and property damage associated with imparied driving. The results of the operation are as follows:
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, there were a total of forty criminal charges initiated, including:
- 19 for driving under the influence
- 6 for misdemeanor driving while license suspended or revoked with knowledge and/or driving without a valid driver's license
- 4 for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance
- 3 for a second time refusal to submit to a breath test
- 1 for felony battery on a law enforcement officer
- 1 for resisting without violence
- 2 for possession of alcohol by a person under the age of 21
- 1 for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage
- 1 for felony uttering a forged instrument
- 1 for possession of drug paraphernalia
- 1 for driving with an expired driver's license, more than 6 months(criminal).
There were a total of 68 traffic citations issued, including:
- 15 for driving while license suspended or revoked with knowledge and/or driving without a valid driver's license
- 12 for speeding
- 1 for a .02 violation under 21 years old (zero tolerance)
- 1 for a child restraint violation
- 1 for an open container of alcohol
- 16 for other non-moving violations
- 22 for other moving violations
